Sheltered body of water available for port operations connecting either with the sea or with an outer port or with another basin, sometimes by means of a lock or passage. In geography, the tract of country drained by a river and its tributary or which drains into a particular lake or sea. In oceanography, a depression of the sea floor more or less equidimensional in form and of very variable extent.
